Elliot Consulting Services Featured inTampa Bay Business Journal

Tampa, Fla. - June 2, 2008 - Elliot Consulting Services, Inc. (ECS) was recently featured in a business resiliency article in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The article titled, "As hurricane season kicks off, banks take a different approach to disaster planning" talked about how "business resiliency" supplanted "disaster recovery" in the financial industry lexicon. David Guidi, author of the article, discussed that financial institutions are more focused on weathering a disaster and less about recovering after one. Banks and financial institutions are at the helm of business resiliency planning because of required compliance with federal regulations, so not only do they account for hurricanes, floods, wildfires and workplace violence, but they also encompass more than just the technical recovery aspects of dealing with those events.

Steve Elliot, President and C.E.O of ECS said, "It reflects a shift in philosophy among banks and financial institutions, as well as other businesses, away from the IT department roots of disaster planning and a focus on computer systems recovery." Elliot added, "Conversations about the locations of back-up centers, the reliability of supply chains and the management of personnel have become more common, as has the realization that disasters are more than just remote possibilities. It was no longer just a pipe dream after Hurricane Katrina, the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the 2004 and 2005 Atlantic hurricane seasons. Whether it's a hurricane or something else, it was realized that it can happen and you'd better be prepared."
